A mellower Mexico mood at the Hard Rock Hotel Vallarta

While Hard Rock Hotels have shone their spotlight bright on destinations such as Cancun, the Riviera Maya and the Dominican Republic, one all-inclusive Hard Rock beach experience tends to fly under the radar.

The Hard Rock Hotel Vallarta in Nuevo Vallarta, Riviera Nayarit, swings tamer than the other Hard Rocks, but still with the distinctive music edge that sets the brand apart.

The resort’s 348 guestrooms and ocean-view suites sit on an impressive stretch of sugary beach, which often travelers to Puerto Vallarta find lacking in their hotel experience. The beach at the Hard Rock Hotel Vallarta is sweeping, a prime spot for sunsets with the Bay of Banderas and the jungle-covered mountains hovering in the distance. Each room has its own view of the bay as well as HDTVs, marble baths with a separate shower and hydro spa tub, 24-hour room service and more.

Unlike its sister resorts where the partying continues into the wee hours, the Hard Rock Hotel Vallarta has no nightclub. However, it does keep the party going in other ways with its outdoor amphitheater, where performances are held nightly from 9 to 11.

The revelry continues at the Eclipse Terrace, which has bay views and keeps its doors open and booze flowing until 1 a.m.

The vibe of Hard Rock also remains alive with signature programs like Sound of Your Stay, which offers complimentary in-room use of a Fender guitar and headphone amp.

The Hard Rock Hotel Vallarta also is home to the Wax program, which offers guests the opportunity to go old school with vinyl. The hotel has partnered with turntable manufacturer Crosley for a curated collection of 10 LPs available for listening in room.

As with other Hard Rocks, the property abounds in dining and beverage options. Top-shelf alcohol is always included, and six restaurants offer plenty of variety.

One of the best dining experiences at the Hard Rock Hotel Vallarta is its Zen restaurant, which serves up teppanyaki and sushi from an a la carte menu. Breakfast at the Market is a must, with an expansive buffet offering the usual hot and cold stations, from pastries and charcuteries to omelets, pancakes and Mexican favorites.

Brazilian grill Ipanema could use a refresh in the ambience department, as the all-you-can-eat venue gives off more of a cafeteria vibe. Still, the quality of the food carries it through. Opt for the grilled chicken or spicy chorizo.

The brand’s signature Rock Spa is in full force at the Hard Rock Hotel Vallarta. The spa has 13 treatment rooms, including two outdoor areas with ocean views. A menu of massages, body treatments and wraps as well as facials, manicures and pedicures round out a visit. A Body Rock Fitness Center is also available for guest use.

Several promotions are currently available at the Hard Rock Hotel Vallarta. Honeymooners can enjoy a selection of three honeymoon packages, along with $3,600 Limitless Resort Credit for time together at the spa, upgrades, tours and more. When booking the reservation, select a package at least 48 hours prior to arrival.

Packages range in offerings and price, from a free one with amenities like sparkling wine, dinner reservations, in-room breakfast and more, to more expensive packages that include sensual items like chocolate body painting kits, in-room aromatherapy, concierge service and chocolate-covered strawberries. This package is available through Dec. 22, 2018.

For families, kids can stay for free through August 2018, when two kids ages 12 and under share a room with an adult. Rooms must be booked by Dec. 22.

And, of course, there is always the Take Top Shelf to the Tip Top Shelf package, which includes $3,600 Limitless Resort Credit when three nights or more are booked.

The credit can be used toward tours, spa and beauty salon services as well as romantic and special dinners, upgraded wine selections at restaurants, Rock Shots photo credits and more.
