Rocco Forte’s Florentine hotel will show off a new look after a top-to-bottom renovation. Check it out here.
After much anticipation, Rocco Forte Hotels will soon unveil the fruits of the top-to-toe renovation project of the Hotel Savoy in Florence. Work began last fall, when the luxury hotel closed its doors for a makeover led by Olga Polizzi, director of design for Rocco Forte Hotels. The reopening is weeks away— scheduled for April 13— just in time for the busy summer season in the capital of Tuscany. And for Florence fans, the Hotel Savoy has a coveted location between the Uffizi Gallery and the Duomo on Piazza della Repubblica.
The renovation has touched all aspects of the hotel—from the rooms and new signature suites to the lobby and new terrace. The style and decor? Olga Polizzi has tied the look to the city’s rich culture, also showcasing fashion and leather craftsmanship. The grandeur starts upon arrival in the lobby, which has a soaring corniced ceiling and reception desks designed with caryatid putti and the city’s Fleur de Lys emblem. Paintings by Italian artist Luca Pignatelli adorn the walls.
The room count has been reduced from 102 to 80, and these accommodations have been decorated with custom-designed pieces by local artisans. (The finery includes Il Bronzetto tables, mirrors from Chelini Firenze’s workshop, and C&C Milano fabrics.) We like the sound of the Duomo Presidential Suite—a brand-new offering situated in its very own hotel wing—which will have impressive views of the Duomo. Also enticing: The new two-story suite overlooking the city’s rooftops.
